The Deb Bailey Foundation Inc was set up to raise money for medical research aimed at finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a deadly, debilitating and presently incurable disease that affects the nervous system.

Mrs. Margie Abbott acts as Patron and supporter for numerous Australian charities. We are priveledged to have Margie as the Patron of The Deb Bailey Foundation. In March this year, Margie kindly hosted an afternoon tea at Kirribilli House that raised much needed funds for Motor Neurone Disease Research. Proceeds from sale of jewelery at the event has been handed on to the Dean of Medicine at Macquarie University to support their Deb Bailey MND Research Laboratory. The Chinese New Year of the Goat was launched in the most generous of ways when the Australian Chinese Charity Foundation held their annual New Years Dinner at the Mandarin Restaurant in Sydney. Proceeds from the night were presented to The Deb Bailey Foundation, a charity that has been supporting research into Motor Neurone Disease for over 14 years. The Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Mrs Margie Abbott and David Armstrong from the Deb Bailey Foundation attended a fundraising dinner held in Sydney by Price Waterhouse Coopers on 17th May. A team of researchers has gathered at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie University with a mission to solve the mysteries of motor neurone disease. They have launched the new Deb Bailey Motor Neurone Research Centre, the first unit in Australia dedicated to the disease.
